Jack McGraw, NYU Class of 2017.

The last time I wandered through a pine forest,
the needles surprised me with their softness,
like the birdsongs, and crackle of leaves.

But as I paddled further beneath the evergreens,
I heard here a chirp, there a falling branch,
and just yonder a wild call. And then I thought,

I would think the forest loud, if not for man.
