Artist's Statment

Fiber sculpture created to call attention to Colony Collapse Disorder, a syndrome that has become a widespread phenomenon, raising concerns about the American food supply as approximately 1/3 of all food in the US is a product of pollination by honeybees (NRDC.org). While it is unclear what the cause is of the increased mortality of bees and loss of colonies, there are likely multiple factors at play that are causes for concern, including increased use of neonicotinoid pesticide.
