Left-over steel rod and found sticks

New to the realm of sculpture, I have found a love for found objects and common materials for my work. Many people tend to not notice the beauty in the smaller parts of nature. Most respond to the big and the bold, such as a sunset or a mountain, and neglect the subtler encounters. Trees create beautiful forms and shapes. The vein-like structure of branches, the texture of bark, the colors throughout the year, are all-inspirational.

I wove together ordinary local materials into a transformational shape to represent the progress that we as a society have been making to live a greener life. We have a better understanding of how older ways of living weren't the best for nature or for Earth. We can make a difference through the thoughts and actions that create our lifestyles.
